Believer-not being into the doctrine does not mean they don't believe in god. Why do you think that?

Is it just for social reasons you remain?
by UnshackleTheChains inas someone who has tried to fade on various occasions, i always end up attending meetings!
why is this the case you may ask?.
if i was single, i would have kissed this high control american religion goodbye many years ago.

The majority of active witnesses I know are just "social witnesses". The type that are actually into the doctrine are a dying breed.

If they built 54 new halls in 3 years, how many halls were sold off or closed in that same time period?

Printing presses, bye... bye...
by sp74bb inbye... bye.... no more new printing presses for jw.org... the growth is so tremendous (irony...).. all printing work in europe will be arrange in the next month only in selters (germany), but no renovation or upgrading in printing presses is expected... it will be a full outsourcing :).
a worldly company axel s******* will be used.
this company is known to be printing bild newspaper... the interesting part of it is the logistics will be as well outsourced.

Wow. A bethelite who works in the audio/visual dept did say several months ago that the audio/visual dept was going to be "jehovah's printing press for the 21st century." He made it sound like that's what the higher ups at bethel had said during a meeting there. Sounds like that's the direction they're going in.

JW Video Armageddon to occur before 2040
by Listener insorry i thought it was a new morning worship video but it is 6 months old and has already been discussed on here.. it is presented by gb helper k flodin and about this generation.
the delusion and hypocrisy runs deep.. he reminds the cult members not to speculate because they aren't supposed to know the day or the hour.
then he proceeds to speculate that armageddon will occur before 2040.. https://tv.jw.org/#en/video/vodprogramsevents/pub-jwbmw_201511_3_video.

The funny thing about this whole generation teaching is; in 20-30 years, when they do "receive new light" and change the teaching. It will be buried in paragraph 8 of a watchtower study and 95% of jw's wont notice it.
"I thought we always taught that" is what you'll hear

Are there more ex-witnesses than current witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 infor years the society has said that over 40,000 a year are disfellowshipped.
add to that the 10's of thousands who simply disassociate or fade.... so by that logic, would it be correct to assume there are actually more former witnesses on the earth than the number of current active witnesses ?
.

I think it would depend on what you consider a former witness.
if you combine people who were baptized and publishers, just unbaptized publishers and people who were raised but left before ever becoming a publisher, yeah I think there are way over 8 million.
If your only talking about people who were baptized, and then faded, df, da..then no I don't think they outnumber active witnesses.

Resolutions at Kingdom Hall
by sieborg inanyhow i got to thinking today about my days in the borg and the resolutions that would intermittently be made in the announcements for co visit expenses, sending a donation to society www fund etc.
my point is that while i was in (almost thirty two years) i never once saw anyone put up their hand to vote against a resolution that the body of elders proposed.
on a couple of occasions i heard a few hushed murmurs but i never saw one person vote against.

I saw two votes that were contested. The first was when I was a teenager. The KH was being totally renovated, we had windows, and the vote was wether to get rid of the windows. It was pretty much split down the middle, the congregation was small, about 30-35 publishers. The vote was taken suddenly on a midweek meeting night, when some of the pro-window people were absent. We voted to get rid of the windows. I remember this was used as an example as to why you should never miss meetings, you might get screwed on a vote!
The other time was several years back when we voted on changing the meeting times. A few of the older elders wanted to move the midweek meeting up from 730 to 7pm. That went over like a lead balloon. We voted and it wasn't that close. Still it was a strange sight to not see a unanimous vote in a KH.
